Everything in essential grooming
Bath, brush-out, ears, nails and the skin check, as the base.
De-shedding to the undercoat
The step that stops a house being covered in hair. On a double-coated dog in Lagos heat this is the single most useful thing we do.
Breed-appropriate styling
Cut to what the breed's coat is meant to do, not shaved to whatever is fastest. Shaving the wrong coat can permanently change how it grows back.
Deep conditioning and paw care
Coat conditioner left in long enough to work, and paw balm for pads that spend their life on hot concrete.
Teeth attention
Brushing and an honest look. If there is real dental disease under there, you will be told, because no amount of brushing fixes that.
Before we come
- Block out the time. Rushing the end of a signature groom wastes what you paid for.
- Have a picture if you want a particular style, and let us tell you whether your dog's coat can hold it.
- A pet that has never sat through a long groom may be better starting with the essential one. We would rather say that than take the larger booking.
Afterwards
- Conditioned coats need brushing at home to stay that way. We will show you the brush that suits yours and how often.
- Anything the vet side should see gets flagged in your note the same day.

Should I shave my dog for the heat?
Usually not, and this is the most common mistake we are asked to make. A double coat insulates against heat as well as cold, and shaving it exposes skin to sun and can change the regrowth permanently. De-shedding the dead undercoat cools a dog far better than clipping the top. For single-coated breeds a shorter cut is fine, and we will tell you which yours is.
Is it worth it over the essential groom?
If your dog sheds heavily, has a coat that mats, or is a breed with a real cut to maintain, yes. If it is a short-coated dog that needs a bath and its nails done, honestly no, and the essential groom is the right booking.
Is grooming covered by pet health cover?
