A full examination, at your dining table.
Most problems people bring to us have been visible at home for a week or two. A consultation is the appointment where somebody finally looks properly, in the place where your pet behaves normally rather than a waiting room where it does not.

What the appointment actually involves.
History first
What changed, when, and what you have already tried. This is the part clinics rush and it is usually where the answer is.
Nose to tail examination
Eyes, ears, mouth and teeth, skin and coat, lymph nodes, abdomen, joints, heart and chest by stethoscope.
Weight and temperature
Both recorded, so the next visit has something to compare against instead of starting over.
A plan, said out loud
What we think it is, what we are not sure about, and what we would do next. If we do not know, we say so.
A written care note
Left with you before we leave, with doses, dates and what to watch for. Not a receipt, a record.
Before we come
- Have your pet somewhere it feels safe rather than shut away, and keep other pets in another room for the first few minutes.
- Put any medicines, old vaccination cards or previous test results on the table, including things a friend recommended.
- If it is a stomach or a limping problem, a short phone video of it happening is worth more than a description.
Afterwards
- The care note stays with you and a copy stays on your record, so any vet you see next has the history.
- If something needs a lab, a scan or a theatre, we say so plainly and help arrange it rather than stretching a home visit past what it can do.
Pet health cover applies
Settled through Skeepy Pet HMO on the Pawtastic, Cublings, Furrtastic, Purrfect, Infinity plans, for dogs and cats. Give us your HMO ID at booking and we check the balance before the vet comes out. No cover yet?
The three questions we get every time.
Is a home consultation as good as going to a clinic?
For examination, advice and most routine problems, yes, and it is often better because the vet sees your pet relaxed and sees how it actually lives. What a home visit cannot do is imaging, surgery or anything needing hospitalisation. When your pet needs one of those we tell you on the day and help you get there rather than pretending otherwise.
Do you charge separately for the visit itself?
Yes. There is one home visit fee per address per visit, and it covers every pet at that address, so a household with three cats pays it once, not three times. The consultation is charged per pet on top of it.
Can you prescribe and leave medication?
Usually. The vet carries common medicines and can dispense on the spot. Anything controlled, unusual or needing to be ordered is arranged and delivered rather than promised and forgotten.
