Who we are
Nexara Animal Healthcare is a mobile veterinary practice operating in Lagos, Nigeria. When this page says "we", it means Nexara. When it says "you", it means whoever is reading it: a client, someone browsing, or someone applying for a job.
We are the controller of the information described here. If you want it changed or removed, write to [email protected] and a person will deal with it.
What we collect, and why
We collect four kinds of information, for four different reasons.
- Booking and client details — your name, phone number, email, address and the zone you are in. We need these to send a vet to the right door at the right time and to bill correctly.
- Animal records — species, breed, age, weight, history, what was found at a visit, what was given, and when the next thing is due. This is a clinical record. It is the reason a vet who has never met your pet can still treat it properly.
- Order and payment details — what you bought and whether it is paid. Card details are handled by our payment provider and never reach our servers.
- Job applications — your CV, the details on the form, and the notes our panel writes while considering you. Covered in its own section below.
What we never do
- We do not sell your information. Not to advertisers, not to anybody.
- We do not share your contact details with other clients, or with the people we buy pet products from.
- We do not email you marketing you did not ask for. A newsletter is opt-in and every one carries a working unsubscribe link.
- We do not use your pet's clinical record for anything other than treating your pet, except as anonymous counts that identify nobody.
Who else sees it
A short list, and only what each one needs to do its job.
- The veterinarian and nurse attending your animal, and the practice staff who schedule them.
- Our payment provider, for the amount and the reference — never your clinical history.
- Google, when you book an interview with us. The event and the attendee email go to the Google Calendar account that runs our hiring diary so the invitation reaches you.
- A referral clinic or specialist, when your animal needs one and you have asked us to refer. The records go with the case.
- A pet health insurer, only if you hold a plan and only to settle a claim you have made.
How long we keep things
Clinical records are kept for the life of the animal and for a period afterwards, because that is what a medical record is for and because we may be asked to account for treatment we gave. Booking and order records are kept while they are needed for tax and accounting.
Job applications are covered separately below.
If you ask us to delete something we are not legally required to keep, we delete it.
Job applications
When you apply for a role, we hold the form you filled in, the CV you uploaded, the text we extract from that CV so the panel can search it, any cover note, and the record of what we decided and when.
We run an automated first read that scores an application against the things the role actually asks for — years in practice, the species named in the advert, whether you are based where the job is. That score sorts the pile so nobody good sits at the bottom of a list for a fortnight. It does not reject anybody. A person opens every single application, including the ones the score puts last.
We keep applications for twelve months after the role closes, so we can come back to you if something similar opens. Ask us to delete yours sooner and we will, without asking why.
Cookies
We set a session cookie so the site knows you are logged in and so forms cannot be submitted from somewhere else on your behalf. That is a security measure, not tracking, and the site does not work without it.
We do not run advertising cookies and we do not sell anybody a profile of your browsing.
Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, you can ask us to:
- Show you everything we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete anything we are not required to keep.
- Stop sending you marketing, immediately and permanently.
- Give you your records in a form you can take to another practice.
Keeping it safe
The site runs over HTTPS. Access to client and clinical records is limited to staff who need it. Third-party credentials, such as the token that lets us write to our own hiring calendar, are encrypted where they are stored rather than sitting in plain text.
If something goes wrong and your information is exposed, we will tell you and the regulator rather than hoping nobody notices.
Getting hold of us
