What is actually in it

Feline panleukopenia, calicivirus and rhinotracheitis in one injection.

A check before the shot

Weight, temperature, mouth, eyes and coat. Cats hide illness well and this is often the only proper look one gets all year.

Monitored cool box from our fridge to your home.

A calm approach

No scruffing, no rush. If a cat needs ten minutes to come out from under the bed, it gets ten minutes.

Before we come

Keep the cat indoors and in one room for an hour before the appointment, or you will spend the visit looking for it.
Shut the room off from other pets, and leave a favourite blanket out rather than clearing everything away.
Have any old card or record ready, including anything from a previous owner or a rescue.

Afterwards

Hiding and sleeping more for a day is normal cat behaviour after a visit. Not eating for more than a day, or a lump at the injection site that is still there weeks later, needs a call.
Kittens need a course rather than a single shot, and the schedule goes on the card at the first visit.

My cat never goes outside. Why vaccinate?

Panleukopenia is brought in on shoes and clothing and survives a long time in a house. It does not need your cat to go out, it needs you to come in. It is also the disease that goes through a household of cats fastest once it arrives.

Can you do rabies at the same visit?

Yes, and most people do. It is the same home visit fee either way, so combining them saves money as well as disruption.

Is it covered by pet health cover?

Skeepy Pet HMO covers FVRCP on its cat plans, with more than one dose a year allowed so a kitten course completes properly. We check your balance before the visit if you give us the HMO ID at booking.
