The paperwork is what stops pets flying.

Almost nobody is refused at the airport because their pet is unwell. They are refused because a date is in the wrong order, a chip number is missing from a certificate, or a form was signed by somebody without the standing to sign it. That is the whole job.

What happens

What the appointment actually involves.

Destination requirements, checked first

Every country is different and several change without much notice. We establish what yours needs before anything is booked or paid for.

A timeline that runs backwards from your flight

Chip, then rabies, then any waiting period, then the certificate window. Getting these out of order is the single commonest reason a pet does not fly.

Health certificate

Examined and certified by a licensed vet inside the window your destination allows, which is usually very short.

Records made airline-ready

Vaccination history assembled into the form the airline and the receiving country will actually accept.

Guidance through endorsement

Nigerian export documentation goes through official quarantine channels and we walk you through it rather than leaving you at a counter with a folder.

Before we come

  • Come to us as soon as you know you are moving. Some destinations need a blood test with a waiting period measured in months, and no vet can compress that.
  • Have the destination country, the airline and the intended date. All three change the requirements.
  • Gather every vaccination record you have, including from previous owners or other clinics.

Afterwards

  • You keep originals and we keep copies, so a lost folder on the day is recoverable.
  • If your date moves, tell us immediately. Certificates expire on a fixed window and a delayed flight can invalidate one.

Pet health cover does not apply here

No pet health plan in Nigeria settles this, so it is paid for directly. We would rather say that here than have you discover it at the point of claiming.

Asked most

The three questions we get every time.

How far ahead should I start?

For most destinations, three months. For anywhere requiring a rabies antibody blood test with a waiting period, closer to six or seven. The commonest thing we see is somebody starting six weeks out for a destination that needs six months, and at that point there is nothing anybody can do.

Can you guarantee my pet will be allowed to fly?

No, and be careful of anyone who does. We can make sure the veterinary side is correct, complete and in the right order, which is the part that fails most often. Airline capacity, crate rules, breed restrictions and border decisions on the day are not ours to promise.

Do snub-nosed breeds have a problem?

Yes. Many airlines refuse to carry brachycephalic dogs and cats in hold, and some refuse them entirely, because of the genuine risk to those breeds in flight. If you have a pug, bulldog, boxer or Persian, check the airline before anything else, because it may decide the whole plan.
