Because the fleas are not on the dog.
Most of a flea population is not on your pet. It is eggs and larvae in the cracks, the bedding and the sand, and it is waiting. Treating the animal and not the building is why the problem comes back every three weeks forever.

What the appointment actually involves.
A walk round first
Kennels, bedding, skirting, cracked concrete, sand and the shaded spots where ticks sit. The treatment follows what we find rather than a standard spray pattern.
Pet-safe products, correctly timed
Chosen and dosed by a practice that treats the animals living there. This is the difference between us and a general pest company.
Kennels and bedding treated
The single highest-yield part of the job and the part most often skipped.
Told plainly what to throw away
Some bedding cannot be saved and it is cheaper to replace it than to treat it twice.
A follow-up window advised
Eggs surviving a first treatment hatch on a schedule, so we tell you whether and when a second pass is needed instead of leaving you to find out.
Before we come
- Plan for people and pets to be out of the treated areas for the period we tell you, which depends on the product.
- Cover or move fish tanks and remove birds from the property entirely. They are far more sensitive than dogs and cats.
- Wash pet bedding on the hottest wash it will survive on the same day, or bin it.
- Treat the pets and the property in the same week. Doing one and then the other a month later gets you back to the start.
Afterwards
- Do not deep-clean the treated surfaces straight away. Mopping off a residual treatment removes the part that was still working.
- Seeing a few fleas for a week or two afterwards is expected as eggs hatch into treated surfaces.
Pet health cover does not apply here
No pet health plan in Nigeria settles this, so it is paid for directly. We would rather say that here than have you discover it at the point of claiming.
This one genuinely changes with where you live.

ReadThe three questions we get every time.
Is it safe for my pets and my children?
The products are chosen to be safe once dry and applied by people whose job is animals, but safe does not mean present during. There is a period where everyone stays out, we tell you exactly how long, and birds and fish need more caution than dogs and cats. Anyone who tells you there is no exclusion period at all is not being straight with you.
How is this different from a normal pest control company?
A pest firm treats a building. We treat a building that animals live in, so the products, the doses and what we do about the kennels and bedding are chosen with the pets in mind. We also treat the animals in the same week, which is the part that determines whether it works.
How often will I need it?
For a compound with dogs in Lagos, usually once and then a top-up if it comes back, rather than a standing contract. If we think you need it quarterly we will say so, and if we think you do not we will say that too.
Across Lagos, on a route.
