Chewables are sold in weight bands and the bands matter. A dog at the top of one is underdosed by the band below it.

How many depends on the product, and you are told the date rather than left to guess.

Kept on your file and reminded, because the gap between doses is where an infestation restarts.
Before we come
- Give it with food. Absorption is better and the tablet is far more likely to be eaten.
- Tell us what else the animal is on, including anything bought over a counter.
- If there is a cat in the house, say so. It changes what is safe to have in the building at all.
Afterwards
- Treat the compound in the same week. The tablet protects the animal, not the sand and bedding the next generation is living in.
- Ticks found in the days after are dying ticks. They have to bite to be killed by a systemic product.
Pet health cover does not apply here
No pet health plan in Nigeria settles this, so it is paid for directly. We would rather say that here than have you discover it at the point of claiming.

Why is the tablet so much more than the injection?
You are buying months instead of weeks. Per month of protection the gap is much smaller than the sticker price suggests, and it is one visit rather than several. If cost on the day is the constraint, the injection is a real option and we will say so.
Which should I choose?
If the problem is seasonal or mild, the injection is usually enough. If your compound has a standing tick population, or the dog lives outdoors, the tablet is the one that gets ahead of it.
Is it covered by pet health cover?
